Which Vid Card

Which would be the better video card, a 9800 pro AIW with 256 bit memory access and 128 mb of DDR memory (680 mem/380 gpu) or a 6800 GT with 128 bit access and 128 mb of GDDR3 memory but faster speeds (900 mem,500 gpu) is there any noticeable difference in the memory types. im just wondering if the 9800 would have better performance because it is 256 bit.

i also really like the aiw about the card but seeing as it is a pretty old card, i wanted to get the x700 but its only available in pci-e and im needing an AGP 4x/8x card. yet me know if there is a better performing card for $200 or less. i'm looking for a card right around $200

Thx

the 6800GT in a landslide, the X800XT AIW card is comparable in speed to the 6800GT

really, i was concerned about the 128 bit versus 256 bit access to the memory, not much difference? and I never really got the whole DDR GDDR2 GDDR3 memory thing, what the difference in them, just so ya know, i've been out of the vid card market for about 10 years, my current video card is an 8 mb trident "video accelerator" (riiggghht) made in '95 ;D

do you have a link for us? i was under the impression that all 6800gts are 256bit. also 6800gts are not under your $200 price limit. they are around $300.

are you talking about a 6600gt? they are 128mb, 128bit and around or less than $200.

if so, the 6600gt is still going to be faster than the 9800pro, but the 9800pro has the AIW goodness. so really you need to decide if you will be mostly playing games (6600gt) or watching/recording tv (9800pro AIW).

i can get a tv tuner card, most likely a hapauge wintv-250 since it has the hardware encoding on it. i want a video card for a video card if it had a tv tuner tat would just be a bonus. but i want the video card to be very good and last me another 10 years ;D;D

Heh, well with the current state of games...no Vid card is going to carry you more then 5 years max. 6600GT is still the way to go IMHO.
