WinXP won't get past loading screen
I had to reboot my rig from WinXP, so I did the usual TURN OFF/RESTART. Then Windows won't even get past the loading screen where the blue bar goes back and forth, it just sits there for a LONG time (at least a minute) and I know that the usual time to load XP for me is about 10 seconds.
This happened before, but it seemed to have fixed itself, so I didn't think much of it. What I did was I just cold boot it with the reset button and select LAST KNOWN CONFIG THAT WORKED and I'm in.
All I've done today was download a few things (not EXE files, just movie clips and such), browse internet forums, check out eBay, play some CS, and watch TV on my computer. Ran Adaware, Spybot, and my AVG program and they didn't find anything wrong.
Basically, what happens is that when it gets to the "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" screen, with that bar moving underneath, it just stays there.
Ideas?
Windows site says that when you do a LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIG, it reverses drivers and registries or something like that. The thing is, I haven't installed anything at all. I wouldn't even know what drivers to look for and I definitely wouldn't know what registry I should check.
I'm leaning to a messed up registry when booting, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
