SP2 problem on new mobo

As most of you probably know, I just recently upgraded my motherboard and cpu. I had to completely reinstall winxp, and I'm up and running now. I've gotten all of my programs and things set back up, but theres one problem. Service Pack 2 will not install correctly. I've tried twice and it says its installed fine, but when I restart my comp it never boots into windows. I have to go into Safe Mode in order to uninstall SP2, and then it boots fine. What's the deal here? It would be ok with me to not have SP2 unless you guys think theres a huge risk.

I have seen this twice now with 2 different rigs as well. Very frustrating, but i have no clue why it does this.

hm okay. I'm just leaving SP2 off of it. I'm thinking/hoping I'll be fine. Thanks

Preacher had this happen and as I recall he switched memory and it is now fine. I beleive he was running Corsair on his DFI board as well prior to switching to TCCD modules. Try increasing your dimm voltage a little and if that's not enough loosen your memory timings a little too. It's worth a shot. Go to http://www.xtremesystems.org and look for what bios works best.

The windows installation went just fine..no reboots or bsod's at all. It has SP2 built in and i think that is the problem.
