After switching on, Bom!

edited March 2006 in Hardware
I don't know whether any of the bro here have encounter any problem of this.... (Hope that I'm in the right channel)

When I start my com after the window logo shows up my monitor immed. will show black screen. My cpu is running (I can hear the cpu running)but it seems that none of the prog. is running.

I try restarting with safe mode and this time every thing work norm. There isn't any virus detected nor I have not install any other progrem. :bawling:
(But the most strange thing is that after exiting from safe mode & back to nom. mode, the screen will hold up till around 15min)

May I get some help from any of the experts here?! :p

Many thanks in advance!

Kind of sounds like a video card heat problem, from what you posted. Does your video card have a fan on it and if so, is the fan running? It's also possible that some other component of the computer might be having a heat related problem or even maybe a driver related problem.

Durring a normal boot the system is stressed very hard for a few seconds. If something is over heating it will kick out then.
    mudMD said it.
Show us the system specs, and check all of the fans.
Is everything clean and seated tight?

    your drivers are poofed.

if you can boot into safe mode and everything works ok then your drivers are getting hosed during normal boot.

Have you recently changed from nvidia to ati or vice versa?

I would do a repair install if you are running windows xp then reload your drivers.

The program named wowex32 which shows up at the bottom of your list might be a virus. Do a Google search and you'll see what I mean.

If I were you I would go to our Security Download area and get a program called HijackThis. Make a new folder, put the file in it, then run it. Post your log in a new thread in our Spyware/Virus/Trojan Discussion Forum. Make sure you read through the information there before posting.

If your problem persists after the SVT Team gives you a clean bill of health we will take it from there.

    Good luck. :)

Can you get into Safe Mode?

When you say you turned off the video card, do you mean that you disabled it? Try re-enabling it. What drivers are you using for your FX 5200?

How hot is your case and the video card area? Like Muddocktor said, having the video work a while and then conk out could be a heat problem.

If I change the video card, will every data in my com will be deleted?
Not at all. It's a good idea if you're unsure about something to ask questions before doing it, but changing a video card won't touch your data. Before you go that far I think you should check out the heat issues and also see if you can get into Safe Mode.

    Good luck.

Thats what I thought following the original post too. I would at least try reinstalling drivers from safe mode before repairing the install though, safe mode with networking can be useful for that :)
