wireless acting up

I have a wireless G network at my new house we moved into. I had a belking G router lighting up my old house no problems but now my router is one the first floor and my computer room is on the second floor on the other side of the house. I bought a belkin repeater and it keeps signal at very good or excellent at normally 48 or 54mbs. Sometimes though i just loose connection then it says I cant find any wireless networks in range. I restart my computer and boom most of the time im back on without having to restart the router. Any ideas what the problem is? oh also im not running any security for right now cause i want to make sure it works right. Think it could just be belkin and crappy products? I was thinking of getting a g linksys and reflashing it so I could boot the signal output with the sveasoft firmware. Thanks guys for any help

When the kick off happens see if either unit is locked or rebooting. It sounds like a router reboot issue which is quite a common FW problem.

Check here and see if anybody else is seeing similar : http://www.dslreports.com/forum/belkin

Good place for any networking/wireless/hardware etc....

I am doing a test this week on the new USR maxG stuff. They claim a +50% range at 125Mbps. I'll let you know how they turn out if you're interested.

i think i figured out the card is acting up. as soon as i get kicked if i disable the card and reenable it im fine and it picks the wireless up no prob.

Sorry to tell you than enabling and disabling the card doesn't tell you anything in this situation. That forces the card to reboot and re-establish the wireless link. Same as rebooting machine.

Still could be the router kicking the card or rebooting

i like your wireless problem, sounds fun, try loading the router to factory default or updateing the firmware, even if it has the latest, i would load it any way
