Rakion
Softnyx (The guys who made Gunbound (Which I refuse to play anylonger )) Have opened up the beta for their new game Rakion (softnyx.net).
If you already have the launcher for Gunbound, then you can launch Rakion thru that same launcher (like steam, but free)
It's an over-the-shoulder combat game, with graphics similar to most modern MMORPG. It doesn't have the kiddish feel of Gunbound, but they did keep some of the lessons that they learned developing that game.
Your charachter still earns money and experience each time a battle is won, and uses it to buy new equipment and to go up in level, respectively. Also, the game is still set up 'waiting room' style. You start with a list of matches and need to pick one to become part of.
However, the eliminated one of the major Gunbound issues, by modifying the matchmaking system.
It now looks at the ping of every other person in that game, and wont let you join if your ping with any one of them is above a certain threshold. This means that it may take a few tries to get into a game, but it elimitates a lot of lag once you are in. So far, I've not had any lag issues at all, not even one frame lost.
Overall:
The game is nice looking, and balanced. The character types are different enough to be interesting without throwing off the stucture of the game. So far, the other people who play seem to be more mature than the gunbound crowd, which is nice, and I hope it stays that way. The only thing that could ruin this game is if cheating becomes rampant.
I'll post some screen shots when I get the chance, so that you can get an Idea of what it looks like on the indide... Or you could just download it. It's free to play, and it isn't very big.

Those of you who have given this game a shot: What do you think so far?
I much prefer my Guild Wars account to this game.
I can play in just the PVP section of that game and have a much more engaging time.
And wait a minute I can also explore a vast world with a story in a team of people known as a Guild.
I would rate this game low on my scale of interest... maybe a 3 out of 10
I don't seem to have this issue in Rakion, I think, because it is much more simplistic, and I don't really have to rely on my teammates knowledge of my play style and strategies, so it doesn't matter if they are boobs, so long as they can play the game.
I was really offering this game up to folks who didn't or wont pay for Guild Wars, I would agree that Guild Wars is much better, but it is also $50, while Rakion is freexor.
