Some new Microsoft Intellipoint drivers have made it onto the web. So if you've got a mouse or keyboard made by the software giant, then you'd better get downloading.

Nothing really, a few bug fixes, the usual kaboodle. Not an essential download, but it's allways good to keep your drivers uptodate. Plus, I imagine they will contain support for Microsoft's soon to be released new mice and keyboard ranges.

    Cheers

I'm definately gonna be getting one of the mice. I've been using Intellimouse Opticals for the last three years, and I love them, brilliant mice, but I'm eager for a new design. I'm looking forward to the new ones arriving in the UK.

Another thing-- having an old or wrong mouse driver can make your tooltips show the wrong thing or be partly shown. There was another thread, which I will try harder to find, which had a user who had reloaded his XP box finding the tooltips malfunctioned. The only way I was able to replicate this was to uninstall the Intellipoint software here. With the default PS\2 driver installed, the hot spot for opticals is offset from the pointer tip. With the Intellipoint software reinstalled the problem vaporized as long as I had icons within a certain size range (about 40-50 pixels) and had the fade effects turned off in desktop properties|effects(effects button).

Also note, older Intellipoint software can malf in other ways, it was not intended for 2000 and XP, really. So if your tooltips go awry and you have an Intellimouse of almost any generation (including the old Wheel Mouse Optical) try updating your Intellimouse software. For instance, my CD that came with my mouse had nice Windows\ME drivers, but they were Intellipoint 2.+ something as to version.

Thanks Spinner, a needed update for some folks. Yes, it does list the latest new mice in what it supports. I would speak to the Intellitype also but like a simple older keyboard myself so could not really test them right... :D
