Computer behaving abnormally, pls help!

Hi, Recently my computer has been behaving weirdly. Whenever I shut down the computer using the normal way it will stuck at "window is now shutting down" page without actually switching off even for a long time. I need to switch off the power in order to turn the comp off all the time.

Secondly the autorun mode of my cd rom is not working anymore. Whenever I put in a CD or a DVD, the option window of asking you whether you wanna open the file or close it does not appear. I first thought I have switched off the autorun thing by accident but then when I try to plug in my external hard disk into the USB port, nothing happened again. The window just refused to detect my external hard disk.

I did an adaware scan and a virus scan but couldnt detect anything. Is there something wrong with my window? Do i need to reformat it or is it infected by an undetectable virus? pls help as i have a lot of valuable files in the comp and cant transfer it to my external hardisk because of the problem. The only way is to burn it since the cdrom is still working although not the autorun effect but it will take ages as i have close to 20gb of files that I need to save. pls advice and thx.

Update
: Recently there was a system popup warning from the window

it says:

Windows -Delayed Write Failed

Windows was unable to save all the date for the file I:\$mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure by your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

If there is still no reply from this thread I will reformat my computer tonight. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
