How long is it supposed to take to finish a work unit..maybe i just dont understand how it works but my fah gui says that the progress is 0/5000 and its been sitting here for 30 min...is this normal. I have an athalon 64 2800+ with 256 mb of ram. fixing to be a gig.

Im seriously thinkin that its not set up right. I have it set to team 93 and folding username is airbornflght, and to take 100% of my cpu, and the checkpoint frequency as often as it can. are these settings optimal?

i need help, because if im not doing any good or if my system can barely do anything, then i see no reason to let it run accept when im away.

It depends on the work unit. The larger ones that take longer and usually use more system memory are worth more points. On my A64 3200, some of the work units process at 2 or 4 minutes a frame, for 400 frames and are worth a couple hundred points, while some that are only 100 or 125 frames long, yet take around 30 minutes a frame, but they are worth about 600 points.

Get a copy of EMCALC from here http://home.comcast.net/~wxdude1/emsite/download.html, and check http://vspx27.stanford.edu/psummary.html
That lists the number of frames and how many points the WU is worth. Plug those into EM calc and get the time it takes to complete one frame from your log file and hit calculate. It will tell you based on the current WU how many points per hour, day and per week you will get based on that rate. It will vary, some WU's will give more points per time than others.
