AOL Browser

edited August 2005 in Science & Tech
My daughter has recently downloaded an AOL messenger service as the American friends she met on vacation all seem to use that, whereas her English friends use MSN. Everything works fine but an AOL browser automatically loads on top of IE or Firefox between 1 and 5 minutes after boot up. This is very annoying!

Does anyone know if the messenger service will still work if I delete the browser and if not can I disable it to stop it launching automatically?

Any advice gratefully received.

Doesn't AOL just brand IE as its own browser? If so, you might be able to rebrand it using a program like tweakUI.

That's the way it worked the last time I had the displeasure of dealing with AOL.

Another thing: You might be able to just use the Windows XP "Set Program Access and Defaults" app to set Firefox as your default browser.
