horrible picture on my hdtv

I built a new computer not so long ago and I finally got a new tv and I wanted to run the tv through the computer. I have a ATI all-in wonder 9800 pro card in it and I am simply getting a horrible picture on the tv. The TV is a 26'' HDTV, so I was expecting a decent quality picture... I messed around with the dpi settings and the font sizes, but the image is still really poor and at a 1024 x 768 I can pretty much not read any text...

I was wondering if anybody knew how to get a decent quality picture out of it? Also, would it make a difference if I was running media center instead of xp pro ?

    Use a dvi cable.

    And no it wont make a diffrence if your running media center :p.
