According to tech blog Gizmodo, Logitech has introduced four new cordless mice with a variety of capabilities, including one "smart" mouse.
The Logitech MX610 is getting hyped as the “world’s first smart mouse” and here’s why: not only is it a laser mouse with 2.4 Ghz digital cordless technology, it also has an on-board microprocessor that makes it capable of two-way communication with the computer. This means it will turn itself on or off with the PC, thus saving power.

Do people still turn their computers off?

I don't get it... the MX1000 shuts itself off within 10 seconds. What's so special about this?

I'm not sure. How does the MX1000 know to turn back on? What method does it use to know the PC is off and therefore shut itself off?

Actually... I'm not sure it can tell the difference between an on and off PC. But all it does when it sleeps is turn the laser wayyyy down (you can actually see it, anyway).

But still... running the laser on really low can't use much more power, if any, than running a chip to know when the computer is on
