I allways hear positive things on OCZ especially on the last one Plat Rev 2. Seems like #2 the gold series is bout the same, what is the difference between the gold and plat? What is Unbuffered? I want to get as much performance as I can out of the memory. The memory I have now doent like to be pushed beyond 240. I'm curious to hear about some overclocking results some of you guys have had with OCZ. Thanks in advance :D

    WHile you are upgrading..why not go for 2GB while you are at it? Everybody tries to go that way right now...all the new games are gonna need it for best performance.

    Your board doesn't provide much vdimm at all so remove 1 and 3 from the list as they perform much better with at least 3-3.2 volts. 1 isn't a really good clocker at all i'm afraid so the rev. 2 is the way to go with your board and 2X512.

    Another choice are these: http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=140967&AFFIL=pricewatch&NR=1

    They are either TCC5, BH5 or CH5. The reason we use TCC5 is only that these just don't do 2,2,2,5 at 200, but they can still clock like hell at 2.5,3,3,7. Fairly cheap ram which could turn out to gold with a little luck.

    Would I run into any problems if I got faster ram, would that allow me to oc futher than with 400hz? Im not sure what the limit is for the amd 64 3200 win..Im at 2.4 now. Just thinking that my current memory is rated for 400 and its doing 480 I think, so would a faster memory foot the bill for my overclocing needs? I hope this question is making sense. :scratch: Oh yeah if I got the 2 gig kit would it still run dual and oc the same?

    The good 2GB kits oc like mad..mine does 265 easily. No problems with faster ram at all...just drop the cpu multi.

    Decided to go with the 2x512 plat revision 2...ordering it today let ya know how well it works when I get it sometime next week. I think OCZ is deff the way to go...its so tempting when you have the cash in hand to run to some bestbuy or circuitcity deal but they got the middle of the road stuff that I know wont deliver the goodz!! Cant wait to see the improvement....HEADSHOT!!! <---UT2K4 :thumbsup:

    Not a bad price at all!!

    Got the memory today and the pics I've seen online really dont do it justice....some sweet looking memory. On that note its running as good as it looks. Currently have my AMD 64 3200 running 2.5 250x10 @800 running 333 2225. Thanks for your help/advice Mack!! :thumbsup:

    Good to hear :)

    Do some game and stability tests to insure it's stable. Enjoy.

    I actually have the same board as warchild, but mine is the nforce 3 (msi k8n neo 2 platinum). I'm probably going the 2 x 1gb sticks but wasn't sure as to which ones would work the best in my board. I currently have 2 x 512 DDR 3500 kingston hyper crap in my rig and I can't even get this ram to run at it's advertised specifications. Which one would be the best match for my motherboard and cpu, thanks for your help.(amd 64 3200 winchester)?

    The middle choice would be my choice of those. Remember, that choice is one stick, but they should have the 2X1GB kit option as well at newegg.

    I'm buying 1gb of OCZ PC4000 VX Gold, Mack. Is that good memory? It'll replace my Corsair PC3200, and it's time to move up. Eventually it's going to go into a DFI NF4 board.

    //EDIT:

    Ugh, sorry to hijack. I should've started a new thread.

    No drama old friend.
    If you dare to give the ram enough voltage and provide a fan or 2 over the dimms, that's the fastest 2X512 combo in the universe. It isn't plug and play though, some tweaking is needed in bios. Just give me a shout and we'll go through it if you need.

    On the other hand, the price difference between a kit of VX in comparison to a kit of 2X1GB of Platinum 3200 isn't that big. The Platinum isn't the best overclocker, but 2GB dual channel at 2,3,2,5 timings is bloody fast. Especially coupled with a cpu that has a fairly high multiplier.
