Where is there a list of commands that are typed in to the run box? t1rhino and Thrax have just showed me that knowing these can save lots of frustration.

    bothered.

    Anything thats in the Windows or Windows\System32 folder can be executed directly from the run command (i.e. when you type "net send blah" it is actually running the program "\Windows\System32\net" with the switch "send blah").

    There are some other places that can have files executed by the Run command, but those are the main 2 places.

    gpedit.msc gives access to the group policy editer.
    Normally I just search google if I need to find something out. There are just too many to remember.

    services.msc
    msconfig
    regedit

    Those are the ones I use frequently, but like NS said, anything goes.

    What I do is make a shortcut.

    Right-click any spare area of your desktop, select New/Shortcut and, when you’re invited to … enter the location of the item … type this (all on one line)

    %windir%\hh.exe ms-its:c:\Windows\Help\ntcmds.chm::/ntcmds.htm

    Name the shortcut Command Listing, or whatever you like.
    I drag it to the Quicklaunch
