Yesterday I started getting random popup bubbles from my taskbar that say "Local Area Connection:
A network cable is unplugged"

They happen about once every minute, yet I can still surf the net and everything is connected. This is REALLY annoying. how can I fix it?

    I'd try a different cable.

Are you on a cable modem? You might see what the link light looks like on that end when you get the message.

I don't have any more cables :(. I'm on a cable modem with a router to two computers.

Are the computers close enough together that you could switch the cables? If the problem follows the cable you'll know that's it. If you have spare ports on the router you could try a different one, too.

You could also try running the troublesome computer straight into the cable modem using the same cable and see if the problem goes away. If it does, it means the router is dropping the signal for some reason. :)

SpywareShooter, This happened to me about 2 years ago. For me it turned out to be my Linksys router. I bought a new one and the problem never came back..good luck

Prof: When I plug it into the cable modem I lose all connection. It seems to have stopped happening today anyways. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

You likely need a Release/Renew for Windows to find the new IP Address. If you're using a static IP Address you'd have to change that.

    Same here. :)
