? about a labtop

My brother bought a laptop about 2 years ago for $300 bucks, its a kds sumthin or antoher with a pentiumIII 800mhz, 248mb ram, and windows 2000 profesional. Just curious to if this is worth nething, if it could be used for minor photoshop or anything like that? It says it had directxb

    email, web surfing, word; that's about it.
    Even with more memory it is just too slow and the integrated video sucks.

    Could play with Linux, use it as a Mini-server or something. The specs aren't awful so it's still useful for all general office work, just not gaming or things that need masses of processing power.
