How to alter XP shutdown screen

edited October 2005 in Science & Tech
Ok This is what I want to happen

When I breing up the shutdown screen. (start, turn off computer).

I am faced with 3 choices. Standby, Turn Off, and Restart.

If I hold the shift key, standby turns to hibernate.

I do not want standby to be available.

I would like the hibernate option to be their all of the time.

Alternatively, is it possible to make the 'turn off' selection actually hiberbate instead.

I'm sure all of this comes down to simple registry changes, but I can't find them

Thanks in anticipation

Go to start > run and type: powercfg.cpl

(or "Power Options" in the control panel)

Look around there, under the "Hybernation" tab there is an checkbox to enable/disable it. There are also other options on the power dialog for stand-by as well.

    Thanks,

I have hibernation enabled, and it all works fine.

I just need to stop the standby from appearing by default, and replacing it with the Hibernate feature on the Shutdown Screen.

The control panel does not allow this to be done.

    Any suggestions?
