1) DFI NF4 series
2) Abit AN8 series
3) Epox 9NPA+ Series
4) Asus A8N Series
Best CPU
1) 3200+ Venice (512K - 2.0ghz stock - Does 2.4-2.8ghz)
2) 3500+ Venice (512K - 2.2ghz stock - Does 2.4-2.8ghz)
3) 3700+ SanDiego (1MB - 2.2ghz stock - Does 2.4-2.8ghz)
4) X2 3800+ Toledo (512K - Dual Core - 2.0ghz stock - Does 2.4-2.8ghz)
Best Video (on average Nvidia is 20% faster/more efficient than ATI Clock for clock)
1) 6800GT (16 pipes 350mhz)
2) X800XL (16 pipes 400mhz)
3) X850 (12 pipes 475mhz)

For gaming you want a high clock speed (although IMO eveything above 2.4ghz feels fast). However the X2 gives the best overall computing experience as it's essentially a Dual CPU machine

if im not looking to overclock, which of those do you think is best... i'm getting a 3500+ venice... which mobo will give me the least amount of headaches when i go to set it up... i.e. not having to f*ck around with the ram?
nah, already own the ram and i bought the cpu and this SOB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157081 because its a truly hybrid AGP/PCI-E mobo so i wouldnt need to get a new video card or psu right away; but the motherboard is giving me a billion headaches i think i have to rma it. so f*ck it im just going to go all the way i think
*EDIT* nope i checked with newegg and they're letting me return both, and buy totally new stuff stay tuned
