Outlook 2003 Closes As It Opens?

Whenever I open Outlook 2003, either from the quick launch bar or by double clicking the icon on my desktop, it starts to open then closes. If I try to open it again immediately (actually while it is closing), it will hang for a couple of seconds and then re-open normally and stay open. If, however, I have IE open before I open Outlook, it opens normally. I am finding this frustrating as I can't just open Outlook, I have to have another program running for it to stay open, even, it appears, if it's another instance of Outlook closing!!

Any ideas anyone? It's more of a hassle than a problem and it only affects my A8N-SLI Dlx box, not the dually. It has been doing this for quite a while and just started doing it one day, no system changes or program changes that I can remember.

    i guess you might have already tried this but have you tried reparing outlook? its an option in the tools menu or one of those menu items at the top (sorr i can't be more precise because i moved to a mac where all the menus are different)
