filename.dll not found

Hi, recently i've been having some trouble with my applications,not only one but many if not all, for example when i try to open windows media player i get this error: "Aplication failed to start because file MSVCR.dll was not found, reinstallin the application might fix this problem", so what i did i tried to re-install but then i got the same error with the installer, and when i tried to open firefox i got the same error, I'm not sure if the missin file is the same for all the applications, i got rid of all the viruses and spyware but i still have the same problem, and also i cant play any video files cuz wmp errors out and then i get this message "To protect ur computer widows has closed the following programs: windows explorer" or something like that. Im all out of ideas here, ur help would be apreciated.
