burn a movie with subtitles

Im trying to burn this xvid video to a dvd, i have the .ssa file (subtitles), before converting the file i have my video.avi file and my video.ssa file,after i convert the video(with TMPGEnc), i can see the subtitles in the already converted file, but after i burn them to the dvd i cant see them anymore,can anybody tell me what im doing wrong?
