By the end of October, Abit will move half its motherboard production to ECS. Abits high end motherboard production will still continue at its Suzhou plant in China.
ABIT Computer, a maker of high-performance mainboards adored by computer enthusiasts, reportedly plans to outsource production of entry-level mainboards to third parties and sell its fab in China to other operators. The move may mean that the company is withdrawing from manufacturing and concentrates on engineering and marketing instead.

I bet ECS has better quality control than Abit does though.

Doesn't ECS make something like 90% of all motherboards produced ranging from OEM's to name brands including Asus? I remember a story on their production a few years ago. It was actually very impressive.

Seems like ECS boards have good initial quality, but I've known three K7S5As that have gone downhill after about 2 years from install. The only problem I've had with Abit boards is their apparent unwillingness to ever use a decent northbridge fan. I'm a little worried about the move, and I'm wondering where that "high-performance board" line will be drawn.
