Now, I'm not a big P4 fan, but...

a buddy might be hooking me up with a crazy deal through his place of employment.

P4 3.06ghz
Motherboard (havent found out what type yet)
Full copy of WindowsXP Professional

.... for $200!

Altho I've been an AMD guy all along, I'm thinking a 3.06ghz P4 will fold faster than my current AthlonXP 2100+. Besides, my mom needs a new computer so I will retire the 2100 to her and have BOTH machines folding! Just had to post this cause its such a crazy deal...... I hate to go to Intel, but damn, this is an offer I don't think I can pass up!

That does sounds like a nice deal, if the specs are worth it. Plus it would be a nice addition to the team.

I don't really know much about P4s other than casually hearing that they were signifigantly slower at folding than AthlonXPs, is that true? At any rate a 3.06ghz would HAVE to be faster than my 2100+, right?

It should be faster than your, I'm assuming, stock 2100+.

    Camman,

With almost no work at all, that thing does an easy 3.5 gigs on standard air. And yes, they fold fast like hell. Faster than the XP´s.

For 200 bones, that´s a hell of a deal even if you get a Gigabyte board.

    BDR,

    Where is the signup? Linky?

It's one of those deals where you have to work for a listed retailer, in a listed position. Then take several challenges (quizzes) and pass them all. Then sit and wait until October.
There's a limited amount being sold.

Chances of winning the lotto are probably better, but what the hell.
