Nero Express problem

I'm trying to burn some files of avi format into a cd-r using the VCD format, but it seems like some of my files are causing Nero to freeze the program while the other files are fine. All of the same avi format. What do I do? Any way to fix this? Or does anyone know any other free software which allows users to burn VCDs?
