Beach Pics Virus From Aim.

ok
i just rebooted my computer about 3 weeks ago. I'm not doing it again.
So I've come here to ask help with the Beach Pics Virus from AIM.

I have read about 5 of the other threads about this topic and I guess I'm computer dumb, because I couldnt follow it. I got HJT and here's my log...

As far as i know.. I just have the away message problem and when i sign off i get the..."The AIM hyperlink you've clicked on may require you to be online to work. Please log in first."

help for this would make my life so much better right now.

Hope someone can help, I don't even want to sign on to AIM, let alone be on my computer with this madness, and if it's possible I'd appreciate if someone can make it easy to understand. THANKS!

Boot into Safe Mode (press F8 at the BIOS screen when booting) and fix these entries:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System Messaging Queue] SMCSS.EXE
    O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [System Messaging Queue] SMCSS.EXE

Still in Safe Mode, find and delete this file:
    SMCSS.EXE

Then boot back into Normal Mode and post a new log.

might i ask what you mean when you say "boot in safe mode."
sorry for being so computer illiterate.

When you restart your computer continually press F8 until a boot menu loads or it says "Loading boot menu...". At this screen there should be a list of a bunch of different options to start your computer in. select Safe Mode and follow the instructions above. Safe Mode might look kind of weird but it will be normal again when you restart.

    so to fix these entries...

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System Messaging Queue] SMCSS.EXE
    O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [System Messaging Queue] SMCSS.EXE

...i have to delete that file?

Yes, delete the file SMCSS.EXE and fix those entries with HijackThis while in safe mode.

I'm not sure what happened to smcss.exe, but it appears to be gone regardless. Also this entry was buried in your log, so I missed it the first time.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WhenUSave] "C:\Program Files\Save\Save.exe"

Fix that entry then find and delete the bold folder:
    C:\Program Files\Save\

Then reboot and post a new log.
