SP2 Causes BSOD

edited October 2005 in Science & Tech
When I install Service Pack 2, after the necessary reboot, it just gives me the Blue Screen.

I uninstall the SP and it works fine.

With the SP installed I went into safe mode and looked at the even viewer, and it says something about the sfsync02 not being found.

I tried the whole SFC scan thing and it didnt help.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Did you try and re-install it again? maybe it was just a bad install.

Did you re-download it before your second try? A corrupt download could do it.

If you're doing it via the Windows Update method, I'd recommend getting the full download and trying it that way.

(PS: This is not the same computer with the BIOS problem, is it? ;) )

You may want to run a repair install, the file does not look particularly familiar to me as an .ddl file that comes with xp, though it may be one that was corrupted through spyware/virus and your cleaner deleted it. The repair install will fix all that nonsense. If that doesn't work than I honestly do not know what to tell you.

Good luck with all that

If you cant figure it out at all, well umm i guess you should format. Just wait to see what others say.

See if this info is any help with your sfsync02 error message.

I would recommend a Repair Install over a format/reload, but I'd be willing to bet you can fix the problem without having to do either. :)
