I have been looking around for comparisons and the only thing I can find are manufacturer specifications, which we all know are complete BS.

So the question is, does anyone know the WiFi 54Mb AP and a 54Mb PCMCIA card with the best range?

Cheers,
NS

Cisco Aeronet equipment. Longest range with the strongest signal.

Heh, and now a very hard question, find it in the UK.

Googled it and it's not going anywhere......

Give me about 24 hours, and I'll be back with the top 5 range/signal strength 54mb adapters and APs.

    Cheers.

They seem damn hard to find here. Doing a Google UK on the name alone doesn't even bring back a full page of results, and my mail hardware sources don't even have any Cisco G equip at all.

Er..... though how expensive is this stuff likely to be?

Well, I did a search and the best I could find was 11Mb PCMCIA cards for £170 and 11Mb PCI cards for £200, which is insane especially considering it isn't even 54Mb.

my lab is setup using linksys 802.11b ...I get excellent signals way way down the hallways (at least 100ft) past a steel door and cmu brick. the prices you stated seem way over priced to me ...I paid about $53 per nic ...the ap was reasonable also.

best (and most expensive) is going to be cisco.
next best, and slighty less expensive is (in my experience) cards by proxim. (orinoco brand cards)
