right now i work at circuit city in thier "tech shop" as a manager and we always are changing hard drives on laptops. The thing the scares me is we dont have manuals so it makes it hard. Is there a way I could get service manuals for various models for laptops? I know when i was at CompUSA they had a site to go to, i know they had support from the companies cause they were an authorized service center but is there a way i can get my hands on manuals?

Your best bet is to visit the manufacturer's website and look up the particular model# there. Most will have detailed instructions for replacing HD's and RAM.

I've never worked at a place willing (or large enough) to spend money on buying manuals for every brand and model. They wouldn't have had the space to store them if they did. :p

HP and Compaq seems to hide their detailed manuals. I had to "chat" with their tech support to get them to send me the internal links...
