scvhost is using 100% of CPU.... HELP
Hi guys,
I have had this problem for a while and nothing I seem to do fixes it. I can normally get about 1/2 an hour out of my system before the CPU goes to 100%. After looking at the other posts on this issue I extracted the following log from my system. Does this help anyone to find the problem?? Sorry but I really have no idea about this.
Thanks for any help you can give me..

Could you please follow the instructions in this thread to run some Ad-Aware SE scans, and post a HJT log file in the thread: http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14915
Thanks,
Mike
You are correct, it isnt actually scvhost that is the problem. It is svchost that is taking up 100% of my cpu. Just a typing error. Sorry.
Ok I have run Adaware as I do on a weekly basis, and it didnt really find much. I also run Nortons anti virus and this is all up to date.
I have run the hijack this program and the log is attached. Can you see anything in there that could be causing this??
Thanks again.

I do not believe that your SVCHOST looping issues are spyware/virus related. I noticed that you are running SP1 for XP. It would be worthwhile upgrading to SP2, as large service pack upgrades can often correct odd issues.
It may also be beneficial to schedule a full chkdsk to look for bad sectors on your boot partition. You can do this by running chkdsk /r from the command prompt. It will ask you if you want to run it at next bootup, type y.
I have run the hijack program again. But this time I did it while the computer was using 100% of the CPU.
Is there any problems with this log???
If not I have decided to wipe the system and start again.
Thanks again.

Everything still looks clean. When your CPU is at 100% CPU, it will not change your HJT log.
If you'd like some additional help, I'd suggest starting a new thread in the software forum for more exposure. I'm fairly confident that your problem is not virus or spyware related.
Good luck
