I just saw this  Can't wait!! :D

Hopefully some of the bugs will be worked out in this.

When it comes out, I'm hoping to buy a cheaper CD Key on eBay and then just download the CD and install the expansion pack (legally, yes) :)

I do have a question though. I bought the BF2 CD Key on eBay, and installed it with a downloaded CD. Works great. Will I have any problem installing the expansion pack (by CD or downloaded)?

    You're a bitter, bitter man.

And it's EA/Dice, they're not going to fix it. It's hard to when their collective head is in a dark, humid, and smelly place.

Hmm looks a lot like a splinter cell multiplay game.

BF2 savior patch 1.03 took a decent game with some minor bugs and made it a noob spam-a-thon with many many issues. Hell they could not even fix the server browser. You cant use more than 5 internet filters or it breaks the browser, for me atleast.

Maybe Ill play it if they revert the patch and fix the server browser.

im still on the original version 2224 or something. I can't run the game with the patch applied. It does nothing.

Where have you managed to legally download CDs for use with CD keys you purchased? Selling and buying CD keys also has dubious legality.

I downloaded the CD as a Torrent, and selling/buying CD Keys is legal.

Where do you buy the keys? I dont know if I would trust the seller to seel the key to me only. Pretty soon you get a cd key in use error, and no online play.

yeah I got it on eBay. I just trusted him. He had sold many many already, and it looked fair.

It IS odd, however, that he is no longer a registered user on eBay. ;D

Luckily my CD Key has been fine so far. I've never gotten an error or had any problems (yet). For only $19 (compared to the $49 retail), it wouldn't be the end of the world to have it stop working.

I'm sure this isn't legal as if it was then they (the developers) would have their own method of distributing the game in this fashion, also the reason why the eBay accounts are getting closed. They are likely getting the CD-Keys from OEMs or somesuch, which in itself is illegal, as is downloading the software. You're not buying a licence, just a key, therefor it is still illegal to download the software.

Its not legal at all, why do you think retailers dont do it?

b/c they want all the money they can get..people have been selling keys on ebay for years now....and yes i am a buyer of such...never had a complaint.even when i called EA to tell them about a problem i was having with Win64..they didnt mention anything to me about it being illegal..so my guess is they cant do anything about it...

< Knock >< Knock >..ahh who is it?...EA police.!! Come out with you cd key.! lol ;D

After playing Special Forces for the first time for only about 30 minutes, I have a few opinions about the game.
    • The Desert Raider vehicle has WAY too sensitive steering
    • The jet skis and ATVs are so friggin simple and pointless. I was hoping they'd be fun, but they're not. The ATV's steering is very odd.
    • The only night map I played, Devil's Perch, was not fun at all for me. It was so dark, you had to use the night vision the whole time to see anything.
    • And the biggest part for me - You can't play any of the old BF2 maps! There's only the 6 that come with it so far... :shakehead

Just my $0.02 USD worth of first impressions.

lol..thats odd....our whole clan loved it...we played it for so many hours the other night...i thought i was great..much better than reg bf2..and as for the 6 weeler..it did have very tight steering, but thats how they drive from my experience...

I thought with the compatibility patch for BF2 that came out just before the expansion you can play special forces on the original BF2 maps. people with the expansion can spawn with the new kits, people without the expansion can't.

I'm not sure.. I've installed SF and the 1.12 patch. I'm pretty sure I'm at the latest version of everything.

Well everyone I know who's got the expansion says you can play on the BF2 maps as well as the SF maps... if you already had BF2 patched before you installed SF you need to reapply the 1.12 patch, then you can play on 1.12 servers with SF and BF2 maps. Actually that isn't very clear... you need to apply the patch AFTER you install SF even if you had already patched BEFORE installing SF.

okay I really would like to play all the maps if I can. here's what I've done, so if you can tell me what to do that'd be great.
    • Originally had BF2 with 1.3 patch applied
    • Installed SF
    • Installed 1.12 patch

Theres about 250 servers for me to chose from online. I've only seen ONE regular BF2 map being played - Strike at Karkland. So do I have the right configuration to play the other maps? Thanks

the expansion patches it self on install...then after you need 1.12..but there are 2 differnt icons for BF2..there BF@ and BF2SF and they both have differnt maps..

Ah, there's actually a problem with server configs (on our server anyway, not sure about the majority of servers) which means that servers can have BF2 or SF maps in rotation but not both. However when that has been resolved you will be able to play BF2 maps with SF installed. In fact you can do that now, it's just that given the current choice between a rotation of BF2 maps or SF maps the vast majority of servers have chosen SF maps because it's just come out and frankly the maps are much better.

    to re-iterate:

You can play BF2 or SF maps with BF2 & SF and the 1.12 patch installed.
You can play BF2 maps with BF2 & the 1.12 patch installed.
