problems with malware or hijacker

Ever since this afternoon I get this thing that launches two tabs at a time in mozilla and it's to sites like your-deal.com ,something about mp3search, and ocis.net and stuff like that. It seems to open two pages every 60 -90 seconds. I ran spybot first and quarintined and deleted everything it found, but still no luck. I then ran ad-aware and did everything including have it restart to finish delete two files that were still running and couldn't be delete at the time, but nope still there. Here is my hijack this log. any help would be greatly appreciated. Earlier I had yenml.exe and other stuff but spybot got rid of that.

    Please move HJT from your Desktop to its own folder on your C: so backups can be created. Do this before continuing.
    ===

    Disable System Restore - explained here

    Go into Safe Mode - explained here
    ===

    Check the following in HJT and click 'Fix Checked'

    O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\TgAA\command.exe

    Find and Delete the following in Safe Mode:

    C:\WINDOWS\TgAA\command.exe << this file
    ===

    Reboot into Normal Mode
    ===

    Scan your PC with the following:

    Panda Activescan

    Some files maybe not be able to be removed. Post those files here
    ===

    Post a new HJT log :)

    Well I've given it a shot, but for some reason the panda thing wouldn't start scanning for me. It said I had to use IE so I did but it never scanned even after installing all the vb stuff for it. So anyway I've been doing some more reading. I downloaded the vx2 cleaner add-on for ad-aware SE and I ran it but it said a new variant was found and it's lv0u09d9e.dll. I tried to force delete this with dos, but it couldn't because it's in use. I also found the wfzi folder in windows and in program files\common files\ and deleted those, but I still get the pops like crazy. Virtual-free.com, your-deal.com stuff like that, I think it's a combination of ad-w-a-r-e malware and something else. I downloaded the l2mfix and ran the first option, then the second, but still nothing. So what else is there left for me to try?

    btw here is the latest hijack this log

    I know you said you have done the L2M fix but i'd like you to do it again with the following instructions.

    Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

    http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

    Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

    IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

    Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

    From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

    IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

    There seems to be a problem. when I restart, l2mfix doesn't scan and give me a log. Is this because windows xp asks me which user to log on as, when I restart?

    edited October 2005
    Log on to the user which you are using to run the fix. I have multiple users on my computer and the scan continues when I log on to my account.
  • edited October 2005
    After I run the l2mfix and it restarts my computer,I do log on as my user name but the scan does not keep going. It just stops and acts as if it was never executed.

    There's a slight problem. when I went into safe mode I couldn't see the C:\WINDOWS\system32\f20o0cd3ef0.dll file. I scanned again with the ad aware vx2 add-on and it said it found lvlu0939e.dll . I tried to delete that file in safe mode, but it said I couldn't because it was being accessed by winlogon. apparently winlogon starts up in safe mode also. I think the malware that I have changes dll names because I've gotten a lot of different dll's listed each time i scan with vx2 and it's always something different.

    here is my latest log

    Please do the following;

    Download CWShredder 2.15 from here. Run it and press the *fix,* not scan and allow it to clean up. Close all browser and explorer windows before hitting the fix button.

    ==

    Download and run VX2Finder(.exe).
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/VX2Finder.exe

    Download these two tools:

    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/DllCompare.exe
    &
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe

    Run Dllcompare by clicking the "Run Locate.com" then click Compare button.
    It would be very helpful if you could have all the files found by dll compare scanned at Jotti's so it gives me a better idea of what is good/bad.
    http://virusscan.jotti.org/

    Please post the log from dll compare and the results of Jotti's back here.

    do not reboot once you have posted the logs because all the filenames will change otherwise.

    Ok here is what I found out. I ran the cwshredder first and it told me it removed something for look2me/adware . Then I ran DLLCompare and here is that log:

    * DLLCompare Log version(1.0.0.127)
    Files Found that Windows does not See or cannot Access
    *Not everything listed here means you are infected!

    End log

    I then compared dll's at the link you gave me and It told me that kydcan.dll and mmacm32.dll are adware/look2me malware. When I tried to upload m2nqlc551f.dll and e0200afmed2a0.dll it said that a firewall or malware was prohibiting me from uploading the files. I have a router with some ports forwarded, but I don't use xp's firewall , I just use the firewall in my router.

    So I'll wait and I won't restart until I see a reply. Thanks :)

    Stay offline when doing the following fix.

    Open killbox and paste in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\e0200a~1.dll

    With the full path to the file name in the topmost textbox, click the option *replace on reboot* and *Use Dummy* which will create a numbered dummy file instantly for you.

    Click the Red X ...and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes.
    A second message will ask to Reboot now? you will need to click No (since you are not finished adding all related files in yet).

    Repeat the above for each of these;

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ijmpagnt.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\kydcan.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\m2nqlc~1.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mmacm32i.dll
    C:\Windows\System32\Guard.tmp

    On that last file, close all programs and Reboot your computer.

    Post another log from dllcompare please. Another log from hijackthis too.
