SLI Woes??

edited November 2005 in Gaming
I have a few games in my collection that for some reason or another won't run anymore on my brand-new PC. The reason it's odd is because my old system (which they would run on) was a POS 1.4Ghz, 256MB Rambus Ram, 64MB ATI Radeon, and now on my new system Athlon X2 4800+, 2GB Ram, SLI 7800 GTX, 148GB Raid (Raptor 10K rpm), my older games won't run. By older I don't mean really old either. I'm talking about Thief 3 (the opening movie just keeps repeating), Max Payne 2 (freezes on level loading), Max Payne 1 (Won't play period). Is this perhaps a conflict with my SLI? Do I need to switch to a single GPU to run these games? Anyone with any insight would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I've already patched and updated all my hardware drivers and my games. Still doesn't work.

the most common problem with DC is the computer either gets confused or somthing but it tried to use both cores at the same time either making the game not run at all or exoplode in a fury of speed so fast it rivals that of god creating the universe, the easies wat to correct this is to run the program in compatability mode of Win95 or Win98 ( right click the *.exe of the game, choose properties and choose the compatability tab ) play around with disabling themes and the like. a pretty much sure fire way to get them to run if the game loads at all is to leave it at the tithgt screen alt+tab or the winderz key, right click the taskbar and choose task manager, right click the game name and choose go to process, right click the process and choose Set Afinity, and delecect one of the porcessor corres and restore the game.

    give that a shot

That was amazing! I was sure it was a problem with the GPU's, not the CPU's. While I fundamentaly didn't understand your "exoplode in a fury of speed so fast it rivals that of god creating the universe" explanation, whatever the incompatibility was, problem solved. I've only tried Thief 3, but I'm confident that my Max Payne games will work now too. Thanks for such a quick and perfect answer.
