Budget system build

Greetings once again!
This is my first AMD system so I'm not too sure of its capabilities. You may notice a pattern with my builds, cuz alot of the people around here are looking for budget PCs.
My friend needs a computer that can run World of Warcraft and UT2004, he also has a $350 budget not including monitor. So this is what I came up with...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819104251 -processor

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130494 -mobo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145026 -memory

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822152008 -hard drive

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814164014 -video card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811209002 -case+psu+keyboard+mouse+speakers

Total: $336.91 (shipping included)

I have a 2.0ghz celly with 512mb of ram, and a geforce mx420 64MB agp4x video card, and it runs WoW rather flawlessly, incluiding largely poplulated areas. So I'm guessing this machine should pwn WoW. My 2.0celly box also runs UT2004 really well, so I expect the same.

I'm also wondering if the powersupply in the case combo would be sufficient for these parts, I wouldn't know if it is, but i heard AMD is far less demanding of power.

And again, I'm supplying the cd drive

So yeah.... I was wondering if this is a practical setup for a computer that meets his demands. Or if anyone has any suggestions, that'd be great too. It doesn't have to be the greatest gaming system or anything, but it'd be a nice treat if it could run the newly released game "battlefront 2", perhaps on low quality with a decent frame rate :D

better make sure that case is micro-atx compatible.

ack, i was under the impression that microatx was simply a smaller atx form factor, as if it still had the same screw holes

so my friend really likes the case and the things that come with it so i may look into an atx board of similar properties...

so is there any problems that you can see?

The only thing I don't like about the system is the video card. It will probably play WoW and UT2004 fine, but any new game will probably kick its ass. I would spend a few extra bucks and get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814164008

Or this isn't a bad card for the money, and it supports video input so he can use his comp as a TV.

actually the chance of it not having micro-atx mounting holes is slim to none. Most of the holes are compatible anyway. Give newegg a call and ask ...they're sometimes good about that if you get the right agent!

awesome! thanks a bunch guys, that latter video card is what i'll get him.

so how about the processor? how is that compared to an intel processor?
it says 1.4 GHz but i figure i can OC it... how far do you think it could go up?

    thanks!

Don't count on overclocking with that mobo and memory.

If you want a little more speed the +2600 at 1.6GHz in only a few bucks more.

I would go for the Radeon 9550 for a video card. No faster than the FX5500, same price, nice colors.

Looks like a solid budget rig.
He can go back later and add memory easily enough.

maybe newegg is wrong on this but they have listed that their sempron 2600+ has 128K cache and the 2500+ has 256K

so why is this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121512

    better than this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814164014

just wondering, cuz the rosewill has more memory and a higher memory-interface(whatever that is)

does the former support more effects or something

or did you mean a 9550 around the same price as the FX5700 suggested earlier, such as this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102503

o and is this the same as this ?

    Thanks!!!

The FX5700 is better than the 9550. That CPU will work, but get as fast as your budget allows. It will be faster than your Celly.

thats what i wanted to hear :D

i think i'll keep everything locked in now, with the 5700 madball suggested...
the only thing i'd want to change is the processor
this- 256kb cache or this? says 128kb cache, but higher frequency

    Video,
You want 128 bit interface, not 64. It will help speed things along.
If you want another alternate to the FX5700 try this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814240009 Radeon 9600SE

    CPU,
This is the fine art of the numbering system.
I would go with less cache and higher speed. Did you notice that the next step, +2800, is the two combined.

I can't find where it says that that video card is 128bit, one of the reviews even says that it is 64bit, not 128bit

    perhaps this card? Link

I will get the 2600+ instead
