I've got my hand on WoW since one of my good friend want me by his side and i got a LOT of trouble while trying to install the game... Got serveal error on different file name at each try...

I know it's a known problem for most users but after 5 hours of tests, i found a solution for the probleme that may help some around here.

First i put all the 5 cds on my computer as explain in the support section of worldofwarcraft.com... Nothing change...

I try like 50 times to install the game, one time it comes to 80% but failed after that...

Then i've found a thread somewhere that say the installer is asking A LOT of the rams ! Then i've an idea of something to try, since my computer is OC a little i've reboot and put down my settings to normal... Then install the game, NO PROBLEM !

This way i've been able to install the game and patch, then i've turn OC on again... I've run memtest for hours and everything is fine... :wtf:

I guest blizzard could make more effort in making great installer for great games... heh

I lose 5 or 6 hours because of that :shakehead But i guest it's not that bad since i've read on some forum that there are people that have been trying everyday to install it for weeks before it works !

Can you get your hands on another copy of the disks? IE, I am thinking there is a scratch on one of the disks so the files are not being read/copied correctly.

Nah, if you read all my post i've copy all the content of the 5 disk on my computer and install from the folder. So it was not the cd because if it was the cd i could not copy the content on my HD. And iif there was a scratch or a wrong file the install would have failed at the same place each time i think...

The only thing that make it work is 'load default setting' in the bios so that no overclock is active...

Im pretty sure it's due to the ram overlock but still i've run memtest with no error and i've play MANY games with no problem at all... Pretty strange but anyway like i said, i've just turn OC off , install, then turn OC on (load saved settings)

The only thing i found bad about it is that blizzard know the problem is experienced by many users and they don't seem to want to resolve it clearly, instead they give a 'what to do' list that lead nowhere and doesn't help [IE : they say that it's best to copy the content of all the cd in REVERSE order (from cd 5 to 1...) WTF  How cand this change something ? hah]

From now on i can play and i've reach lvl 10 in one day :D This is a great game, but still i found the problem & service that come to resolve it more than WEAK, for a compagny that makes billions like Blizzard.
