installing my wifi card.. can't launch the driver setup wizard

edited November 2005 in Hardware
Hi. I'm using a ibm thinkpad T23, 1ghz, 256mb on windows 2000 professional. When I try to install a generic wifi card, and run the .exe setup file, I get an error message reading "an installation support file could not be installed" and then "no mapping between account names and security id was done". Any ideas?

thanks

You are logged in as admin, right?
You are trying to install the software before ever installing the hardware, right?

Can you go in and directly run the install, not letting the setup call it?

yup logged in as admin, yup software before hardware. Not sure what you mean by by directly run the install as there is only one exe file available, which is setup... thanks
