computer freezing

Here is the hijack this log from my sons computer. It keeps freezing when on the internet. Everything stops including the mouse. Cannot use ctrl alt delete to shut down. Have to shut down manually.

    It appears C:\Updater.exe is part of the AGOBOT-OT Worm.

    Enable everything on startup
    • Go to Start > Run > Type msconfig
    • Click the Startup Tab
    • Click Enable All
    • Reboot when prompted

    Download Ewido Security Suite
    • Install ewido security suite
    • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
      • Install background guard
      • Install scan via context menu
    • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
    • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
      • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
      • Then click on Start Update.
    • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
      (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
    • Now, scan with it by clicking 'Scanner' on the left and choosing 'Complete System Scan'

    I am having trouble. I have had to shut down and restart eight times. I finally was able to install Ewido, but when I open the program to scan, it freezes, same thing happens with Panda, it freezes in the middle of the scan. I am now trying to scan with Bitdefender, but the updates could not be completed for some reason. I have even tried to log on in safe mode and same problem. Please help!

    I was finally able to do the enable everything on startup. I did the Bit Defender without the update, but Panda and Ewido still freezes. Here is the Bit Defender and the newest HJT log

    Your HJT log looks clean so i'm not sure why your computer is freezing :scratch:

    It could be a window or hardware problem.

    Go here and download then run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.
    If you have a script blocking program, please allow the file to run. It is not malicious.

    I ran the program. Problem is I cannot find the log. The screen that tells you where it is located pops on and off so fast you cannot read it in time.

    Thats strange. Try doing the scan again and see if you can find the log or go to Start > Search and type Silent Runners under all files and folders.


    Please visit at least two of the following sites for an online virus scan:

    BitDefender Free Online Virus Scan
    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
    Make sure you tick AutoClean under Scan Options.

    Panda ActiveScan
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm
    Make sure you tick Disinfect automatically under Scan Options.

    Housecall at TrendMicro
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
    Make sure you tick Auto Clean.
    When it completes, post back the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted.

    Now we have a whole new problem. The computer will not power on. I tried using another power cord and still will not turn on. I did a Panda scan earlier, and it said it was clean.

    If the computer won't power on then its most likely a hardware problem. Start a thread in the Emergency Forum and someone will help you out. :)
