Got me a fantastic Laptop the other day. This thing beats most desktop systems out there actually. The cpu looks like it's a winner as well..runs full speed at only 1.1 vcore which keeps the temperatures under 40c load.

Dothan 2ghz M0 stepping
Geforce 7800 Go GTX
2GB P5400 DDR2
1900X1200 UXGA "Glare" screen

    speaking of which, does OCZ offer laptop memory?

    It's an XPS m170..the US name is Gen 2 or 3 i think. I paid too much money for it..close to $2.8k.

    We do have So-Dimms actually..they work fine in most Laptops. I got 2GB OCZ PC2700 in the other lappy and it was totally plug and play.

    wow yeah thats an amazing laptop. I saw a similar Alienware laptop in a magazine the other day and told my mom thats what I want when I go to college :D

    I looked at dell.com and the XPS M170 STARTS at $2699 :eek:

    I just customized one for $4,703 :cool:

    i didnt know they were puttign ddr2 pc 5400 in laptops yet, hell, i only have pc 3200 in my computer and its only ddr. that thing must be fast. except for the pentium in it, but that killer video card and memory, make up for inel.

    id love to have it shoot...it must be fast like a ferarri, not to mention, that 7800 GTX in their, that may have be a little overkill, but then again, maybe not... ;D how does it handle the video games?

    oh oho oh..i remember why i dont want a laptop right now. cause my parents said they'd buy me one when i go to college, and the replacement for the centrino is supposed to be out then, maybe even the replacement for the replacement for the replacement.

    and since nearly all laptops have intels in them, i figure i might as well wait a while, since i dont need a laptop yet, i just want one. but im gettign a pentium 2 laptop fomr my grandpa, since he scored himself a new pentium-m laptop. so ill end up throwing unix and openofice on their. maybe find a new battery for it since the original battery is shot.. it has a ethernet card in it now, but id like to get a wireless card on their and get a wireless router.

    will anywireless card run on linux, or is there a brand that is more compatible?

    i know im butting in on your thread, but i couldnt resist.

    It handles all the games i throw at it. Fear, BF2, COD2 and all those games runs better on the lapper in comparison to the gamingrig. The gamingrig is getting old. I have ordered a videocard for it. :)

    i know they are, and they are better suited laptops because of there small profile and low power sonsumtion..well, mackanz you know what you can get me for christmas. :rolleyes:

    I once paid ~3k for a lappy that wasn't anywhere near as close to bleeding edge as yours in its time. Bad a$$ :thumbsup:

    Does it come with a RAID cxonfig? Can you overclock it?

    Don't think you can OC the CPU, but you can probably OC the 7800gtx :cool:

    The 7800 is hardlocked in bios, but i'm flashing it with another bios i found today. I have asked the guy who made clockgen to see if he can make a working clockgen for this chipset and pll.

    Found some leaked drivers for the 7800 GTX 512mb card and those really helped. Except for 3d01.
