I would truly appreciate any help: "Search the Web" popups & others

Hello,
You guys have always been a huge help in the past, and I would appreciate your advice once again.
I followed primesuspect's helpful guide to avoiding adware & spyware. I had 52 processes running when I looked at Windows Task Manager.
I got CWShredder 2.18, ran it and deleted 3 CWS infections.
I ran Spybot S&D 1.4 and found some things that needed to be fixed.
I ran AdAware 1.06 and found a few extra things that needed fixing.
I ran a HJT log and deleted some of the BHOs and some of the items with "Search" in them (I left others because I was unsure if I needed them or not).
I ran a virus scan and found a trojan butterfly that was quarrantined.
I ran Spybot & AdAware again and found many of the same items that came up the first time.
I deleted all IE temp internet files and cookies. I chose the default level on security, I reset web settings, and restored defaults (and unchecked 'enable install on demand IE button').
I got a couple of critical updates from the microsoft update page.
Then I ran Spybot & AdAware again--and they found the same things they found the past 2 times.
My problem--I've been getting IE popups like "Search the Web," "adchannel," "ValueClick," and other popups related to sites I visit (a casino popup when I visit espn.com). Plus I still have 50 processes running on Windows Task Manager. I'd like to rid my computer of these popups and cut down on unecessary items running at the same time.

Not only am I still having the same problems I had before, but now I'm getting this message from Norton saying that a new virus was found. It's called MHTMLRedir.Exploit and when I close the message it pops right back up. This is a never-ending problem.
On top of that I checked my Windows Task Manager and it said I had over 300 processes running at once! After I rebooted (which took forever) I am down to what I normally had--over 50.
This is really frustrating. I'm not sure what I did but I'd love any help to fix the problems. Please let me know if I need to give more information to help you guys out.
