Rivals condemn Microsoft chat closure

It seems Microsoft's recent decision to close its internet chat rooms, in an apparent attempt to help combat paedophiles, has aggrovated a lot of their online chat hosting rivals, who say closing the chatrooms will only drive the problem out of arms reach.
A day after being lauded by child safety campaigners for closing down its internet chat rooms, Microsoft was lambasted by industry rivals on Wednesday for passing the buck on combating paedophiles and pornography.

"By switching them off, Microsoft looks like they're taking the moral high ground, but this is irresponsible," said Alex Kovach, Lycos managing director for the UK and Ireland. "Walking away from chat rooms will drive this underground, it's up to the big players such as MSN to offer safe, moderated environments."

    Why should Micro$oft care about paedophiles as long as they're "out of arm's reach", and cannot get sued for it?
