I know you said you want to reformat but you don't need to reformat to install SP2.

Have you been to Windows Update yet?

Click Start > All Programs > Windows Update. Click 'Express Install' and SP2 should be listed with any other high-priority updates.

I don't how to remove the volume icon from the system tray.

I found how to remove the sound icon, you have to go in to system sounds and audi devices, and clear the remove form taskbar option.

One other question, i have Creative Audio PCI(ES1371, ES1373)(WDM), where can i get the latest driver for it?

If you are having the XP SP1 CD, you would like to save some time and slipstream the SP2 into XP SP1 CD,
and burn a new XP installation CD.

It speed up the installation process time.
    http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

(There are many sites with slipstream instruction on the net --> Search for "XP Slipstream".)

Also when we are having fun, have a look at Autopatcher.
    http://www.autopatcher.com/

Download the full Aug-06 XP autopatch file plus the Sep-06 update file.
Then save it to one CD/RW.
(In October there will be a new update file.)

Now you are able to install all XP updates until Sep-06, while the computer is not connected to the Internet ..

    Note,
The Autopacher program contains some more tweaking programs as well.
Prior to the installation of the XP Autopatcher, the SP2 must be installed.
