Cannot install WinXp on SATA HDD

edited November 2005 in Hardware
Hello,

I have the following system:
MB: Asus K8N4-E Deluxe (socket 754)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Memory: Kingmax 512MB PC3200
HDD: Seagate SATA 80GB
Video: Leadtek Winfast PX6600 GT 128MB
DVD-RW: Pioneer 110D
FDD: Mitsumi 7in1 (with card reader)
Case: 450W and 2 120mm fans (front/rear)

DVD-RW is connected as master on IDE1.
HDD is connected on SATA1 (nForce4 controller).
Silicon Image controller is disabled.

BIOS version: 1010
nForce4 drivers: ver. 6.70 (on floppy disk)
OS:
Windows XP Professional OEM (before SP1) - genuine
Slipstreamed CD (nLite) with SP2 and NForce4 drivers - my release
Windows XP Professional SP2 - grabbed from Internet
Windows XP Professional X64 - grabbed from Internet

2 scenarios:
(A) NVRaid disabled
(B) NVraid enabled with one disk as Stripe

In all the above possible combinations I didn't succed to install Windows XP.

With WinXP SP2 CD (from Internet) and WinXP X64 CD (from Internet) I went as far as HDD was formated and files started to be copyed on HDD, after that an error occured (some files are not properly copyed).

With the other CDs a blue screen of death appeared before F8 EULA moment (just after F6 moment of loading drivers).

All were tried with and without F6 drivers loading.

Since Wednesday I have visited a lot of forums and tried what I have found, with NO result. I'm pretty confused now so I hope I'll find some consolation here.

Thanks.

Just curious but have you tried it on the SI sata controller instead?

And I know this sounds weird but test the memory.

And I know this sounds weird but test the memory.
I've just run Memtest-86 v3.2. The memory crashed at Test #5. I tried 2 DRAM settings:
    (A) Auto (2.5 9 4 4 2)
    (B) Manual (2.5 6 3 3 1)
Will another memory module resolve my boot problem? I have to wait till Monday for the answer.

    Thak you for suggestions.
