svchost.exe 100% cpu cycles - what can I do?
My CPU is practically being taken over by the svchost.exe program, which is running about 98%-100% of the CPU. I am not sure what to do. Can anyone help?
I am using Windows XP on an Athlon 64 computer (1G RAM) and I thought I've been careful with it (I don't download attachments I'm not expecting from trusted sources and I am not using any P2P programs). I'm not sure if this is related but it appears that the Windows Explorer has been particularly slow to start up lately, as well.
Any suggestions and/or advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
