Eveything invisible in Halo...??

edited November 2005 in Gaming
hi,
i just installed halo recently. everything goes well. the games fires up and s started campaign. then i noticed that i cannot see the player, the enemy, the wepon and i think also any vehicle. if it has something glowing on them like a light, i can see the glow, and nothing else. also, i can see emergency light's glow, but not the rotating light itself. in short anything that moves won't show up. but anything that static shows.

i'm using Athalon 1GHz, 384 MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX 400. I already updated the game, updated my graphic driver to the latest one, and updated DirectX to 9.0c.

one dude also have the same prob, and i'm posting his one here :

================================================== =======
When I play my Halo demo on my computer [AMD Athlon Proc. 750 MHz, 576 MB
RAM, NVIDIA GeForce2 100/200(Video Card)] every player, alien, weapon, and
vehicle is invisible. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it multiple times,
but it happens every time. Is there anyone who might know what's wrong with
it, or how to fix it?

Thanks. =)
================================================== =======

this is from another forum group, www.pcreview.co.uk. he has not get any reply.

where can we go wrong? help anybody....

p/s i dunno if this is related, but while the program is running, my Pro/Engineer stuffed. i cannot move my CAD model, it feeze.

    Must be the fact that your video card has both to little ram AND is to slow to properly render the game. You'll need a 6600GT at least to play this game at even a decent speed, let alone be able to render all the textures.

    Halo is very demanding with video card and CPU speed. Sorry.

    thanks for the reply, but i don't think its because of the memory in the video card because it think my comp satisfy all the min req. my comp has 64MB while the min req said (from http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829479#XSLTH3130121121120121120120):

    the minimum req are :

    Minimum system requirements
    • Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Second Edition, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP.
    • Computer/Processor: 733 megahertz (MHz) processor.
    • DirectX: DirectX® 9.0 or later. (DirectX 9.0b is installed by Halo.)
    • Memory: 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM.
    • Hard Disk: 1.2 gigabytes (GB) of free hard disk space.
    • Video card: 32 MB with 3D Transform and Lighting capable.
    • CD: 8X.
    • Sound: Sound card, speakers, or headphones with multiplayer play.
    • *56.6 Kilobytes per second (KBps) modem or 10 MB network adapter. Multiplayer servers require broadband to run a server.
    • *Additionally, you must have an Internet Service provider (ISP) or a Local Area Network (LAN), if you want to play multi-player games.

    we both have more that it takes to run the bloody game. also, our video card is supported according to the same article.

    btw thanks for your advice.

    I think his specs are plenty good to run Halo. I have played it before on a notebook with integrated graphics.

    Try to uninstall and reinstall the program. It sounds like the object textures may have failed to copy over.

    When you run it, make sure you close out all other programs that are running at the same time.

    Halo PC rocks!

    even if you could see everything, your computer is never going to run that game at an acceptable level. I remember when that game came out for PCs and everyone was bitching about how slow it was on their 2Ghz computers when it ran great on an xbox with a 733mhz cpu.

    That being said, you should still be able to at least see everything. Maybe there's a patch you need to install from MS or from Nvidia? Try re-installing it.

    Keep in mind the xbox has a modified GF2 Ti (Its dx 8 complient vs the dx7 on the pc version).

    Also most of those noobs tryed cranking it on intel eXtreeme Graphics or an nvidia GF4 mx440 ;D.

    Halo for the pc runs perfectly at 800x600 med settings on my spare P3 800eb,256mb of ram,Nvidia 5200.

    Framerates quite good :).

    On my current PC (though with a Ti4600), my framerates were barely playable. I couldn't imagine playing the game on a FX5200.

    I had a graphics glitch with Halo as well. I reinstalled it and patched it to the latest version and it went away.

    The game WILL play on your machine, just not at the highest detail levels.

    Although I did not experience the same problems you did I also had a lot of problems with Halo on one of my PC's. Once I installed the latest update and the latest patch from microsoft, the problems went away.

    I would agree with Primesuspect and recommend you try that :)

    the everyone for replying to this post. anyway, i don't think the prob is with the framerate. as i mentioned before, the game does play and play quite well. its not even lagging. i real problem lies in the fact that i can't see the things that i'm supposed to be able to see such as my weapon, the enemies and the vehicles. also, some parts of the environment were not rendered well. such examples is the stars and the sea. i really think its something to do with the filtering or shading. i did try using -use11 or -useff or -use14 at no success.

    I disagree i used to run Halo fine at 1024x768 with a Mobility Radeon 7500 32mb and 256mb RAM. I think it is your CPU because I tried Halo on a computer with a MX440
