Removing unused icons

edited December 2005 in Science & Tech
Well, not just any icons. If you're running on XP, I'm positive this will work, any other version, try it but don't expect success.

Right Click Bottom Toolbar/Taskbar - Properties - [(check)] hide inactive icons [CUSTOMIZE] - Click Customize - Past Items

I have a HUGE list of past items that I hardly remember using, is it possible to remove them as my small brain can't always remember what something is and would like to clean them out. No reason to this other than 'I wonder if it's possible' and 'space'.

Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have a lot of icons on my bar, and it was annoying. Before I hid the icons, I only had half a toolbar. Some items are considered 'always active,' so you have to customize your icons to always hide.

Right click on your toolbar>properties>customize>and manually select whether to hide or show your icons. Most of mine are hidden all the time, but hitting the little arrow will show them all again.

I hope this was what you are looking for.

Close but so far...That's the description for what I want done...Once you're in customize, I want to know if it's possible to nuke certain items that I uninstalled ages ago. Just a little tweak to see if I can actually work my way around my computer. Damn windows hides stuff.
