Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX. Not working correctly

edited December 2006 in Hardware
I'm having an intermittent problem with my USB Audigy 2 NX. I have just upgraded the board, CPU, and video card. Seems that one of these items is causing this problem. Rather than describe the problem, i've attached a sound file of Unreal Tournament 2004 being switched between 3D Audio and H/W 3D. (yes, i compressed the file. Quality isn't the issue, and the cracking you hear after the mode is changed is NOT caused by the drop in quality of that WAV).

I've been trying everything i can think of for a good part of 6 hours. Drivers for the new board, disabling onboard sound, new sound card drivers. Installing card to a different USB port. I've got the card connected directly into the mainboard USB hub. Now, as for a full spec list.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket 939 "Manchester" ~2000MHz*
ASUS A8N-SLI Nforce4 400 SLI MCP*

Seagate 120GB 8MB Cache IDE 7200RPM HDD ST3120022A
USB Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX
iomega Dual DVD 4x2.4x4x2 DVD +/- RW DVDRW4216IND-A
iomega 52x24x52 CDRW CDRW64896INT-B
Panasonic 3.5" Floppy Drive
Philips 109B5 19" Flat CRT Monitor (1280x1024 85Hz)
Creative Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers
Logitech Cordless rechargable mouse MX700
Logitech Cordless Elite Keyboard
Thermaltake Xaser 'Shark' Silver Aluminium ATX Case
Antec Totalcontrol 2.0 550W SLI Certified PSU
Cooler Master Aerogate II Fan Controller (Black)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition Service Pack 2

I'm stumped. Windows reinstall is next on the list unless someone has an idea?

EDIT - For those who didn't pick up on this, my previous rig had the same sound card, and never experienced those problems. I've starred the new items.

I had a similar problem with my X2 and Audigy NX. Found this post on a google search and just thought I'd share a possible solution - install the AMD x2 driver from here: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html

It's the 2nd one from the bottom. Fixed it for me. :)

Well... My NX actually died on me. If i can resurrect it (it's out of warranty), i'll give that a shot. Thanks :)

    Hello People

I just registered to make this one-time post:

    Thank You!

I have an AMD dual 64 3800+ AND an Audigy NX USB which was driving me crazy -
the sound was terrible - it would speed up / slow down/ crackle etc.

The fix is as above - download and install the AMD dual core program.

    Instant succes

Thanks again and Happy New Year to you all

    Bye

It did seem like a timing program, i noticed Mozilla Firefox's scolling notifications suffered from it, but my Audigy 2 NX died before i could apply the patch.
