Remove Messenger from XP Home?

Every time I set up a computer in Windows XP Home (and other OS's), I can never get Windows Messenger to just GO AWAY. The icon comes back in the taskbar every time the computer is restarted.

I always disable the Messenger service, but I think that's something else. I've looked in Add and Remove Programs, and in Add / Remove Windows Components, but I don't see how to get rid of the Windows Messenger thing.

What can be done about it?
