AMD CPU choice! why am I so excited?

I have been chatting in a few threads about these new 170 series Opteron’s along with the X2's from AMD. I am in the midst of updating my towers CPU "well one of my towers" It currently has 1 4000+ CPU in it and I would like to upgrade it to a Dual core system. I currently have 1 4800+ system and enjoy the performance... but I am wondering about these new Opteron Dual cores for the 939 socket...
To give you an idea of what I use this comp for I will list common functions below:
3Ds Max 7.5
Adobe Photoshop
Auto CAD 2005
Gaming: F.E.A.R. BF2, BFME1 and BFME2, AOE3, and a few others...
allot of web design programs
and much more.
System specs:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Bios 1015
Corsair Xspert ram 4 x 512
2 x EVGA 7800GT 256MB
2 x 120GB SATA 3.0Gb HD's
Processors I am interested in:
Opteron's
170
175
X2's
4400+
4600+
4800+
I would like your opinions for the best bang for the buck, I am really interested in the 170 and the 175 but is there any compelling info to make me not buy those and stick with the X2 series?
