Winfixer and associated pop-ups; HJT log
Hi,
I keep getting pop-ups from "WinFixer" and some sort of adult website while navigating the web. Additionally, until just recently, when WinFixer popped up, it would put an Active X box on the desktop that could not be closed by clicking x. The only way to close this particular box was to use the task manager.
Today I ran Ad-aware, Spybot S&D & downloaded the latest update of Spyware Blaster. Ad-aware noted several items, including Virtumonde, which I had it remove. On re-scanning, no substantial items were present. On running Spybot, no items whatsoever were found. Unfortunately, these pop-ups and WinFixer's dreaded Active X box remain.
I just ran HJT, and here is my log:

I've had a couple of experiences with Spyware and have a couple of associated questions:
1) Can anyone recommend a good anti-virus program? I'm using Norton right now, and it seems that it's not exactly foolproof (although I may be to blame as well).
2) I would be interested in learning a bit about how to go about utilizing HJT logs and generally becoming more informed on the technical aspects of spyware removal. I'd love to be able to help others, and of course, it would be great to be able to help myself, rather than take valuable time from the other members.
Thanks in advance for all the help, and my apologies for a long-winded post.
