    Hi,

    Step 1

Please move HJT to its own folder where your OS is installed.

    Step 2

Download SpyAxeFix.exe © noahdfear. Save it to your desktop. Close all other programs and windows. Double click SpyAxeFix.exe, then click Start to extract the tool to it's own folder. Open the SpyAxeFix folder and double click the SpyAxeFix.bat to start the tool. At one point when the tool runs, your taskbar will dissappear, and your computer will restart when the tool completes. A text file named spyaxe.txt will be created in the SpyAxeFix folder. Post the contents of that log please.

    Step 3

Please read these instructions carefully and print them out! Be sure to follow ALL instructions!

Download smitRem.zip and save the file to your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
    http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

    Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
    Ad-Aware SE Setup
    Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
    1. Restart your computer
    2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
    4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items and click 'Fix Checked'

    ===================================================
    O2 - BHO: HomepageBHO - {3e9b951e-6f72-431b-82cf-4a9fbf2f53bc} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp8BB5.tmp
    ===================================================

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

    Run Ewido:
    • Click on scanner
    • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    • During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
    • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
    • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
    • Save the report to your desktop
    Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Website > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked!
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.

Let us know if any problems persist.

I have downloaded all the programs....

I then ran the spyaxe.exe, and it created the .bat file in its own folder, along with other files.

But when I run the .bat file, AVG tells me its a virus???

    what should I do?

    thnks

Try disabling AVG temporarly and run the SpyAxe fix. After the fix, you can Enable AVG.

    To disbale AVG temporarly

Open the Control Center. Then, click Program > Exit > Yes to the message.

Carry on with rest of the instructions :)

    Okay,,,8)

I disabled AVG then ran the .bat file, and windows comes up with this error...

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access.

So i deleted the spyaxe directory, re ran the .exe, then tried the .bat file, same thing. So I deleted the directory, rebooted, and then shut down AVG, re ran the .exe, re ran the .bat, and same windows error message...??

    arrrgh...8)....

    Try this alternative:

Note: There may be one uninstaller included. If so, just run it

In order to clean your PC from infections related to Spyware Axe product, please follow the instructions below:

    1) Save Uninstallers.zip from http://www.spyaxe.com/uninstall/uninstallers.zip to your desktop or HDD.

    2) Extract 2 files "illegal_adv_uninstall1.exe" and "illegal_adv_uninstall2.exe" to your desktop or your HDD using WinZip.

    3) Execute both of them one by one by double-clicking with your mouse.
*note: they will run instantly in the background. So don't be concerned when you don't visually see anything happening.

    4) Reboot your PC

    5) Your PC is now clean from the infections.

If you haven't done so already, delete the entire spyaxe directory from your drive under program files.

Carry on with Step 2 after :)
