IDoAsIPleaseIDoAsIPlease I guess here for now
edited December 2005 in Spyware & Virus Removal
Hi guys,
I want to first thank you in advance for your time and assistance with matters on our computers.

I ran Spybot S&D and Adaware on my PC.. nothing came up. I also ran my spyware and Virus scanners, nothing.

On occassion, mostly when I start a virus scan, a virus warning comes up that says I have a virus named Java_BYTEVER.A See below:

Potential Threat Alert A potential threat was identified in file:C:\Documents and Settings\Main PC\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\file\BlackBox.class-15599ffc-38b4e43c.classPotential Threat Information:Name: JAVA_BYTEVER.A

Also

One thing that is confusing is that I do not use IE, I ONLY use Firefox  .

Please view the log below from the HiJackThis, any suggestions on removal will be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi, lets start off slow here :)

You said you ran your Anti-Virus scanner but I don't see one listed in your log.

Please tell me what Anti-Virus you have?

Tell me if you have a Firewall also :)

yep it is there... VCom and that stands for Viscom. which also has a SW firewall.. I also run a Linksys router NAT/FW.

 I apologize to throw in another headache.. but Spybot can not delete this log, I tried directly deleting, will not work, can this be a problem to?

Log: Activity: SchedLgU.Txt (Backup file, fixing failed)

Havn't heard of Viscom before but as long as its a Anti-Virus and Firewall, its fine :)

We'll sort SpyBot out soon :)
    --

    Step 1
Please move HJT from your Desktop to its own folder on your C: so backups can be created. Do this before continuing.

    Step 2
Download CWShredder 2.19 from here. EXIT for now.

    Step 3
    Download Ewido Security Suite
    1. Install ewido security suite
    2. When installing the program, under "Additonal Options" uncheck..
      • Install background guard
      • Install scan via context menu
    3. Launch ewido, there should now be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
    4. The program will now open to the main screen.
    5. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
    6. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files:
      • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
      • Then click on Start Update.
    7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
    8. After updating, Exit Ewido

    Step 4
Go into Safe Mode - explained here

    Step 5
Check the following in HJT and click 'Fix Checked' - Close ALL open Browsers first

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyServer = ***.***.**.104:80
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = ***.*.*.1

    Step 6
Open CWShredder and click FIX. Close ALL open browsers first. Run the scan TWICE

    Step 7
    Open EWIDO

    Close ALL Browsers before scanning
    1. Click on scanner.
    2. Click on Complete System Scan, the scan will now begin.
    3. While the scan is in progress you will be promted to clean files, click OK.
    4. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections", then choose clean and click OK.
    5. Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located at the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
    6. Click Save Report.
    7. Now save the report .txt file to your desktop.

    Now close ewido security suite.

    Step 8
Reboot into Normal Mode and run these two scans please.

    Panda ActiveScan
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm
Make sure you tick Disinfect automatically under Scan Options.

    Housecall at TrendMicro
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
Make sure you tick Auto Clean.

Post a log from the scans

    Step 9
Post a new HJT log :)

Was able to do ALL but:
    Step 8
Reboot into Normal Mode and run these two scans please.

    Panda ActiveScan
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/active...n_principal.htm
Make sure you tick Disinfect automatically under Scan Options.

    Housecall at TrendMicro
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hou.../start_corp.asp
Make sure you tick Auto Clean.

Housecall was not loading all that it needed from the net and Panda will not run on Firefox.. :(

ALL other tests were done and SEVERAL bad stuff were found and rectified.

Spybot S&D log still will not delete

Kind of strange that SpyBot is finding a .txt file.

If you want to remove it then do this:

    Download Killbox from here.

Open killbox and paste in C:\WINDOWS\SchedLgU.Txt

With the full path to the file name in the topmost textbox, click the option *Delete on Reboot*

Click the Red X ...and for the confirmation message that will ask you to reboot now, click YES.

Check if the file is gone. :)

Yep, something wrong with TrendMicro at the moment, lol :D

The reason I'm asking you to do the scans is because they will remove more "junk" from your computer. Not all files will be able to be removed so get a report and post it here from the scans you do.
